Change of Soloist for Beethoven 9th Symphony Concerts

Matthew Rose, bass singer, who was scheduled to appear as soloist for Beethoven 9th Symphony concerts and NHK Symphony Orchestra Beethoven 9th Special Concert presented by Japan Post Insurance Co., Ltd., has cancelled his performance due to health reasons, therefore, Goderdzi Janelidze will sing the part. We appreciate your understanding.

Goderdzi Janelidze, bass

Georgian-born bass singer Goderdzi Janelidze participated in the Bolshoi Theatre Young Artists Program after studying at the Tbilisi State Conservatory. He won many competitions including the International Rimsky-Korsakov Competition, while singing at the Bolshoi Theatre as a member of its ensemble. He then expanded his career to major opera houses in Europe including the Opéra national de Paris, Covent Garden and Gran Teatro de Liceu, Barcelona. In November 2022, he sang the role of Pimen in Boris Godunov staged at the New National Theatre in Tokyo, and made headlines for his powerful singing.
