Mr. Charles Dutoit was scheduled to conduct the NHK Symphony Orchestra’s 2018 December subscription concert series. However, he recently indicated his wishes not to appear. He cited that “the current climate is not right to enjoy the music fully, neither for me, nor for the orchestra or our dear audience.” He also mentioned that he does not want to damage “the beautiful relationship” that he has developed with both the orchestra and the audience over the past 30 years.
After carefully looking into the matter, the NHK Symphony Orchestra has decided to accept his withdrawal, and has cancelled his engagement, hence, we have rearranged the December subscription series as follows:
